To bow glass, flat glass is shaped in metal moulds. The glass and the mould are baked together in a special furnace in which the temperature is gradually raised to 650° to 850°C, depending on the final shape required.

Furnaces demand extremely skilful, very precise, operation and minute-by-minute vigilance. The slightest error misshapes or cracks the glass.
